Behind the Music: Meet Hannah & Chloe!
The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to introduce its newest team members, Hannah Bolden and Chloe Schafer. Working behind the scenes this season, these two bring a powerhouse mix of music industry savvy, exceptional performance talent, and some wonderfully unique personalities to the office.
Hannah is currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, balancing a dual degree with a B.A. in Arts Entertainment & Media Management and a B.M. in Vocal Performance. Chloe is a senior at the University of St. Thomas, where she is majoring in Music Business and tackling a double minor in Film Studies and Business Administration. Chloe is also an accomplished woodwind player, bringing her talents to both the clarinet and the tenor saxophone.
Given their academic backgrounds, it’s no surprise that both have phenomenal taste in classical music. Hannah’s favorite piece is Wagner’s massive, dramatic Ring Cycle (specifically Götterdämmerung), while Chloe leans toward the lush orchestration of Holst’s The Planets, with a special love for Jupiter.
Their artistic passions spill over into cinema, too. Chloe can recite every single line to the holiday classic White Christmas, while Hannah has the entire script of Disney’s jazzy The Princess and the Frogmemorized. As for their last big cinematic outings, Hannah hit the theaters for the action-packed Jurassic World: Rebirth, and Chloe caught the visually stunning Avatar: The Way of Water.
Naturally, a proper introduction requires talking about food—especially cheese and ice cream. When it’s time to cook, Hannah loves whipping up a decadent chicken or shrimp scampi, while Chloe goes for a cozy, comforting homemade chicken pot pie. For snacks, Hannah keeps a sharp Parmesan on hand, while Chloe opts for smooth Muenster cheese. They both know the best local spots to grab a sweet treat, too; Chloe swears by Hub City in Marshfield, and Hannah is a big fan of Scoops in Chilton. However, their culinary adventures haven’t always been glamorous. Chloe once fell victim to a trick dog-food-flavored jellybean, but that pales in comparison to Hannah’s worst culinary mistake: a homemade Twinkie stuffed with sardines and pickled pigs’ feet.
A quick round of rapid-fire questions revealed just how delightfully distinct these two are. On the court and track, Hannah loves playing tennis, while Chloe sticks to running track. If you look at their favorite animals, Chloe champions the underdogs with pigeons and raccoons, while Hannah prefers the gentle, slow-moving manatee. Their prehistoric preferences are just as unique, with Chloe loving the plated Stegosaurus and Hannah favoring the dome-headed Pachycephalosaurus. They also aren’t afraid to hot-take the calendar; Chloe thinks Easter is a bit overrated, and Hannah feels the same way about Labor Day. Finally, when forced into the ultimate “would you rather” dilemma between a rat in the kitchen or a roach in the bed, Hannah confidently chose the kitchen rat, while Chloe went for the bedroom roach.
