Born February 8, 1932, in Queens, New York, John Williams is one of the most influential and celebrated composers of our time. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he has written music that has become part of the cultural fabric of modern life—from the soaring themes of Star Wars, E.T., and Jurassic Park to the stirring fanfares of Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and Superman.

Williams studied composition at UCLA and the Juilliard School before beginning his career as a jazz pianist and studio musician in Los Angeles, where his talent for orchestration and melody quickly led him to film scoring. His partnership with director Steven Spielberg produced some of cinema’s most enduring soundtracks, and his work has earned five Academy Awards, twenty‑two Grammys, and countless other honors.

Beyond film, Williams has composed concert works, fanfares, and commissions for major orchestras and events, serving as Music Director and now Laureate Conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra. His music continues to inspire audiences worldwide, blending cinematic power with symphonic artistry and emotional depth that transcends generations.

Featured in this concert is violinist John Schultz, who will be performing the violin solo from Schindler’s List. Schultz recieved his Master of Music from the Leonard Sorkin Institute of Chamber Music and now owns Schultz Strings in Marion, Iowa. In addition, he is on faculty at the Preucil School of Music in Iowa City as well as at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. He has also developed many music festivals and is currently the executive director of the Corridor Honors Orchestra and Hilltop Chamber Festival.
